You could even compare the game to Dark Souls in terms of the way it is played. Timing and precision are crucial otherwise, you will meet your demise. This leaves the game with only two buttons, Duck and Punch, making it a certified mobile game. You feel locked in, unable to dictate pace and direction your freedom stripped. Now, coming to Nintendo Switch, I was thrilled to try Super Meat Boy Forever, but unfortunately, it has left me to question whether it should have been released on anything other than mobile devices.Īuto-running in Super Meat Boy Forever is its biggest issue. Having heard that the sequel was originally going to be a mobile game, I was sceptical about trying it. The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero Review. Will we still be playing Super Meat Boy Forever a decade after it debuted? I'm not sure but I am still enjoying Super Meat Boy and probably will for many years to come. With that being said, Super Meat Boy simply got everything right and it has held up beautifully as one of the most rewarding and challenging 2D platformers out there. Super Meat Boy Forever tried something different and that's fantastic, especially considering the fact that it's fun, full of variety, and maintains the spirit of the original. Well, I definitely don't want to beat a dead meat so let's call this meaty matchup already! The winner is. Finally, the cutscenes in both titles spoof scenes from classic games which is awesome and although Super Meat Boy nails the retro feel, the high quality animation in Super Meat Boy Forever makes them far more entertaining. On the other hand, Super Meat Boy Forever's in-game graphics are much more colourful, refined, and modernized and even though it may lack the original's charm, it feels like a much smoother experience. As you progress through its grueling stages, you'll encounter a ton of hazards, mechanics, and enemy types that help mix up the gameplay beautifully. Although I prefer the original's core gameplay as you're actually able to control Meat Boy, the amount of variety in its endless runner sequel's gameplay is surprisingly quite notable. Whereas both feature tough-as-nails platforming, Super Meat Boy has you directly control the little squishy fellow while Super Meat Boy Forever has him automatically run and all you do is use 2 buttons to jump, punch, dive, and slide. Of course, the big difference between Super Meat Boy and Super Meat Boy Forever is their gameplay. □ The original Super Meat Boy is still quite an impressive challenge Gameplay │ Video Chums was once offered $4000 per month to display a persistent video ad.
